Zombie 5k Obstacle Course Run

“Run For Your Lives is an apocalyptic 5K obstacle race. But you’re not just running against the clock — you’re running from brain-hungry, virus-spreading, bloody zombies.  Runners will navigate a series of 12 obstacles throughout a 5K course in an attempt to reach the finish line — all while avoiding zombies. At the end of this adventure race, you get to celebrate survival (or zombie transformation) with live entertainment and music, local celebrities, vendors, food, and of course, beer!”

The obstacle filled race has spread in a very short time to 12 cities across the country, starting this year with the Atlanta area on March 3, 2012. The inaugural race launched in Darlington, Maryland last October was a blood curdling success as more than 10,000 participants and spectators attended to kill or be killed. It’s obvious awesomeness could not be contained and has since started spreading like a virus across the world, and to a city near you.

Imagine a jog in the woods, but a fun, life preservingly motivated, exciting jog full of obstacles, mud, screaming and a horde of hungry, blood covered zombies grabbing at you every chance they get.

I hate to jog but I can’t imagine a better scenario or training regimen than an actual Zombie filled obstacle course. Or if you really do hate to run, and don’t plan to “live” through an actual Zombie apocalypse, you can be a groping, grabbing gore covered Zombie instead! (my most likely choice). They are taking Zombie volunteers in most cities (volunteer).

Registration packages for participants include a race shirt, admission to the Apocalypse Party, a medal signifying your survival or zombie transformation, and advanced training for the zombie apocalypse. Spectator and camping packages are also available. Prizes will be given to the top male and female human finishers in several age brackets, including: 14-19; 20-29; 30-39; and 40 and up. There will also be an awards bracket for military participants. A portion of every ticket sold will be donated to the American Red Cross.

Next run is in Georgia March 3rd and almost booked up!
